Jamaal Lemon, Award-Winning Author and Advocate, Joins Craft x EDU Board of Directors

RICHMOND, VA – Jamaal Lemon, acclaimed beer writer, James Beard Nominated journalist, North American Guild of Beer Writers (NAGBW) Award Winner and International Association of Culinary Professionals Finalist, has joined the Craft x EDU Board of Directors. A Charleston native—currently residing in South Florida. Jamaal became obsessed with beer after completing an internship in The Czech Republic, Belgium, and Germany. When the that experience came to a close, Jamaal put his degree in English and love of culture to good use as an award winning writer and journalist for the beer industry. Read more…

Craft x EDU Offers Travel Grants for Professional Development Opportunities in Craft Beer

Craft x EDU travel grants have been established to support professional development activities in the craft brewing industry that require travel within the continental United States. The program will support eligible travel-related expenses up to a limit of $750 per person per fiscal year. Awards are made based on demonstrated personal and industry impact and will be awarded until the funds for this program have been exhausted. Learn more…

Recently, we've been asked if efforts to grow dive $Recently, we've been asked if efforts to grow diversity in the brewing industry are growing too numerous and too fractured. While we appreciate the concern, we believe Craft x EDU and other efforts are each meeting unique needs and creating a robust ecosystem of support. The @pinkbootssociety society has long been an advocate of women in the fermented beverage industries, providing a robust portfolio of scholarships for technical brewing and STEM research. Craft brewing pioneer, @igarrettoliver, recently announced the creation of the Michael Jackson Foundation, which supports technical education and career advancement for black, indigenous, and people of color in the brewing and distilling industries. Our friends at @beerkulture are harnessing the power of breweries to make broader social change, by building trust and strengthening communities through philanthropy and authentic grassroots interactions. The incredible group at @BrewingChangeMN are creating a community of support and a thoughtful conduit of education, advocacy, and direct action for members of the craft brewing community. Craft x EDU's grant and scholarship programs don't focus on technical brewing education and we are enormously grateful to @pinkbootssociety and @iGarrettOliver for so ably meeting these needs. Our programs are designed to support learners who are embarking on new careers and newly-established business, so we are grateful to @beerkulture and @BrewingChangeMN for their efforts to nurture communities in and (more importantly) out of craft beer.
